Here we link our process thusfar, decisions, visuals and sketch of the map
We first had a collective brainstorm where we discoverd the very broad subject of body representation, at first we were very interested in what is being represented to us and what 'codes' come with that
after making our personal maps and sharing our ideas our interest shifted more toward self representation and personal motivations/experiences whithin that subject
we gave the assignment to other people as well to broaden our view
It was super interesting collecting all the experiences and see the visual outcomes. Evy came up with the idea of 'building' a town in combination with storytelling. While exploring our map you're starting as your naked/stripped self, visiting a town in which selfrepresentation is layed out in three areas you can dicover and choose where to go.
The map we sketched together is an outcome of our own imagined visits to the town.

This map can be interactive and personal for every user. Maybe we can let several people read our map and have them share their route and what they came across. We also want certain parts in the map where you can place critical comments, drawings or notes.

Legend - in everyones life all three layers come in to play and are influencing your performance.

Three area layers:

1. The performance square
this is the location of the most commercialised, idealised and performative part of self representation. (Social) media, comments from society and public idols have influence on how you see and represent yourself. It's a location you can avoid and, but everyone coes across it eventually in this day and age.

2. Museum bubble
This is a more safer space of choice and personal interest where you gain knowledge about representation and consume (like history, sports, fashion) but also imposed norms like in religion, school or you're medical state.

3. Personal bubble
In this area you can walk free to different environements of choice where you can represent yourself (your home, a secluded forest or a social park) but there are still places where you can be judged by your appearance which can eventually lead to hiding parts of yourself.
See it as an overview and a way to travel through your memories, ideals, choices and things your are influenced by in terms of your own representation. Do I act different in certain spaces? Do some spaces have influence on other ones? How do I want people to see me and why?
example of location 2 you can explore: a (art) history museum which symbolises ideals, figures, roles and the representation of humans throughout history. The way you can encouter it in our map is for example if you have conservative beliefs about gender roles which you want to communicate with your body
